Daniel has written new material specifically meant for “looping”, playing over and over while blending tone, rhythm, and right hand patterns with new chords, melodies, and musical dynamics. This workshop will follow the model of playing slowly and repeatedly through the material until it sinks into your bones. You can use these compositions for warm-ups and to “center” yourself on the instrument. One of the most valuable tools you can have in your ukulele tool box. “Your (Meditation) workshop has had lasting impact on my playing. I am practicing the routines most days, bringing them into my song performances and inventing routines of my own. Thank you for lighting that flame!” Michael Sinclair, workshop attendee (Confident Beginner to Intermediate level.)

The ukulele was made for swing music! Any uke song can swing and sound jazzy. It’s easy to make your instrumental accompaniment more interesting through chord substitutions and strumming patterns. The material covered in this class is not exclusive to the jazz/swing world it can be used for all styles of music. No music theory needed. no music reading required. No knuckle-busting chord shapes to learn. Just fun! A concert or tenor sized uke tuned GCEA is recommended. (Confident Beginner to Intermediate)

Daniel Ward has worked for years to create a simple step-by-step approach to learning these rhythms and strums. Clear hand-outs and vocal “phrases” that outline the patterns you are learning make it easy to add the Latin charm to the songs you already love to play.
