In Cynthia Kinnunen‘s earlier years, following studies in piano, flute, bassoon, oboe and voice, and after completing her conservatory piano levels and a university degree in music, she moved into marketing and fundraising in the arts and non-profit sector. However, as music often does, it coaxed her back and in the last 8 years she has been able to dive in, now happily immersed in music full-time. A Level 3 James Hill Ukulele Initiative teacher, she now currently teaches private music instruction in ukulele and piano; ukulele group classes; the Royal City Ukulele Ensemble adult learning program; is a sessional lecturer at the University of Guelph; Director of Engagement for James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom method; and Founder and Director of the Royal City Uke Fest in Guelph, Ontario. She also now travels to teach and perform internationally, sharing her passion for the role that music can play in our lives, our homes and our communities. She will be performing with her husband Ben as “Transit Lounge” on Friday and teaching workshops over the weekend.
