Mighty Uke Day is a celebration of the diminutive yet dynamic ukulele and honors its unique ties to Michigan culture as well as its contributions to music education and appreciation in the schools and community.

We are pleased to announce the performers and workshops for Mighty Uke Day 7, held annually in Old Town Lansing MI with proceeds benefitting Music is the Foundation programs in Michigan classrooms and communities.

Friday night will feature “The Women of the Great Uke State” with headliner Rachael Davis and opening acts Olivia Millerschin, Julianna Wilson, and Marlowe. Saturday night, we’ll host Heidi Swedberg and Daniel Ward, with openers Gerald Ross and Frank Youngman, as well as The Ukulele Kings. (Both of these shows will be held at Dart Auditorium, sponsored by LCC Radio.) Our popular Sunday afternoon acoustic show will feature Heidi and Daniel at the MICA Gallery. We have a full slate of workshops from beginning to more advanced Friday afternoon through Saturday. Heidi, Daniel, Gerald, Frank, Jeff Krebs, Kjell Croce, and Andy Wilson will all be on hand to help you learn new skills and techniques. Our popular open mic, group strum, and Featured Performer Stage will all be back – more info on those later. We will also be working with the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) for another bus flash mob on May 4. Larry Stump’s Guinness world-record-holding giant ukulele will also be making appearances throughout the festival.

Our new MUD hotel is the Quality Inn University, just east of Old Town. I think you’ll find it nice upgrade from the American Inn and they’ll let us jam into the wee hours in our own private conference room.
